Renault Group's New Chief Strategy Officer: Josep Maria Recasens (2025)

Renault Group's Bold Move: A New Leader to Accelerate Innovation

Newsflash: Renault Group shakes things up with a strategic appointment!

Boulogne-Billancourt, November 17, 2025 - In a significant move to streamline operations and boost efficiency, Renault Group has appointed Josep Maria Recasens as the Chief Strategy, Product & Program Management Officer (SPPM), effective immediately. This decision is a bold step towards a more agile and responsive organizational structure.

But here's the twist: this appointment is not just about restructuring. It's a strategic play to harness the power of unified vision and execution.

As of November 17, 2025, Recasens will report directly to François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, and join the esteemed Leadership Team. His mission? To craft a strategy that sustains the Group's upward trajectory, steering product decisions for the coming years and orchestrating their implementation. And there's more! Recasens will continue to lead as the CEO of the Iberian Peninsula countries and temporarily retain his role as CEO of Ampere until its transformation is complete.

François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, shared his vision: "My focus has been on creating a streamlined, dynamic organization to meet today's challenges head-on. By integrating strategy, product, and planning, we gain coherence and agility. Josep Maria, taking over from Guido Haak, whom we deeply appreciate for his invaluable contributions, will lead this unified front. Our commitment to Ampere's vision of accessible electric and software technologies remains at the core of our strategy."

Josep Maria Recasens expressed his enthusiasm: "I'm thrilled to embrace this challenge and honored by the Group's trust. My initial focus will be on instilling Ampere's winning principles across the company: a product-centric approach, disciplined program management, and a comprehensive investment perspective. With the Leadership Team's support, we'll adapt, accelerate, and embed these principles to sustain and enhance our product momentum, making it a lasting part of Renault Group's strategy."

Recasens brings a wealth of automotive experience. Armed with an engineering degree and an MBA, he began his journey at SEAT S.A. in 2002, progressing through R&D, product planning, and international project management roles, eventually becoming Director of Strategy, General Secretary, and Director of Public Affairs.

In 2021, he joined Renault Group as Director of Strategy and Business Development, playing a pivotal role in implementing the Renaulution strategy and partnership initiatives. His rise continued as he was appointed Chief Strategy Officer and Country Director, Iberia, in 2023. With Ampere's inception, he stepped up as Chief Operating Officer, later becoming CEO in 2025, steering the company towards electric and software mobility.

And this is the part most people miss: Recasens' appointment is not just a leadership change; it's a strategic pivot. It raises questions about the future of Renault Group's organizational culture and its impact on the industry. Will this unified approach accelerate innovation? How will it shape the company's competitive edge? Share your thoughts in the comments below! We'd love to hear your insights on this exciting development.
